CNNC schematic design process

First 4 Perspectives...Interim Critique Drawings

Connector hallway, includes the ramp, conference rooms and the public restrooms

The small vault will be used as the large training room as well as a kitchen, and classroom are included as well

Office hallway, allowing light to spread throughout the space using the horizontal banding of windows and the large glass pane doors

Perspective of large vault, leaving the space open allowing movement throughout this space.

This was our first charrette for the CNNC project.  We had to design the front facade of the old Leon's Beauty Salon on West Lee Street.  I wanted to keep it modern by adding long horizontal windows but then i realized after this mini project, that it needs more character.  It seems rather boring and uninviting which is not what i want in the appearance of CNNC.

Schematic layout of the needs of CNNC

Sketching out sections and perspectives, figuring out where furniture will be placed.

Thoughts about the discussion Tommy and i had as well as keeping along with the power of the square, i sketched out an exterior front door to CNNC.

Reception desk, keeping my concept in mind but i had way too many squares going on in such a little space. I eliminated the desk squares when i did my final schematic design.

A section cutting through the training room and facing a classroom, kitchen and storage closet.

Styles in Graphic Design

Bauhaus

The Bauhaus advertisement is a representation of abstract forms. The simple shapes, along with the 3 dimensional forms beside it, give it an off balance composition. The text allows your eye to follow the larger font then read the smaller fonts to see what it is all about. The colors are very basic, which gives does not attract the eye at first.

Pop Art

This advertisement relates to pop art because of the use of color, text and format. The bold colors as well as the product give a since of playfulness to this ad. Line is used in this document by the way the text is lined up in the center. The font attracts the eyes and gives character to this composition. Andy Warhol is a great example of pop art.

Retro Modern

Retro-modern advertising consists of strong images that are cartoonist or very animated. I chose this ad because the colors, objects and composition caught my eye instantly. The large swirly blue shape caught my attention and i felt as if i was reading a comic book as well as the text.

Nostalgic Remix

This ad uses this kind of graphic design but only in the background and it is kinda hard to see. I don't know if this counts as nostalgic. The patterns in the sky of circles and other abstract forms make it a well working ad. The text is large to allow the reader to understand who and what is it representing. I also like the bright colors in this ad.

Peculiar Parallelism

The goal is to develop a convincing correlation between nature and the man made. My nature object was a gumball and my man-made object was a bow. I was inspired by the DKNY ad and pursued a blurred effect with a crisp object in the center. My composition looks nothing like my two objects which adds an effect that makes you wonder what the objects were in the first place, i am very pleased with it.

Playing Around

I got my Adobe CS3 software today and was so excited to learn more and play around with it. I decided to make a composition of different colored and types of flowers to make a collage. I really like how it turned out in both forms and can't wait to learn how to use more techniques in Photoshop.
