Concept
Integrating power of the square and hidden and exposed, Center for New North Carolinians is a place for immigrants to begin a new start. Our inspiration came from the square exterior windows. The square became a recurring element throughout our design in furniture, materials and lighting. For materials we chose carpet for the conference room and office to give a more personal feeling. Dark finished bamboo flooring was chosen for the reception area not only because it is more sustainable, but also to make the lightly finished bamboo furniture stand out. To create calming and inviting spaces, we chose a light blue and light green for accent walls as well as upholstery. Orange was used as an accent throughout all spaces. The design of our CNNC logo is a representation of immigrants coming to CNNC individually from different cultures, uniting and helping each other to become a stronger individual.
